City Council Work Session

The Montevideo City Council met to begin discussions about the community’s long‑term vision. During the meeting, City Manager Robert Wolfington and Community Development Coordinator Jessica Dahms introduced the idea of hiring a planning consultant to lead a new Comprehensive Plan process. Cities typically update their Comprehensive Plans every 10–15 years to ensure that growth, development, and community priorities remain aligned. Montevideo’s current plan was completed in 2013, making this an ideal time to launch a fresh, community‑driven planning effort.

The project will take 18-24 months to complete, and will act as a blueprint for Montevideo's future growth, development, and resource allocation. It will outline the goals, policies and land-use guidelines for the city over the next 15-20 years. The project is expected to begin in June of 2026 and will provide formal processes for residents to voice their opinions on the future of Montevideo.
